Jerome was born In Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on March 30, 1969. Has two sisters, a twin brother, and a little brother. Jerome Bechard enters his thirteenth season as a Snake and his fifth as the head coach and general manager. He is the only individual to be a part of the team and/or front office each of the thirteen seasons of Columbus Hockey.
A sixth-round draft pick by the Hartford Whalers in the 1989 NHL Entry draft, Bechard's career spanned 851 regular-season games. He began his career with Phoenix of the IHL in 1990-91. Bechard also spent time in New Haven of the AHL and Cincinnati of the IHL before joining the Birmingham Bulls of the ECHL. Bechard served as the bulls' captain all four seasons that he played in Birmingham from 1992-1996, and spent three games as interim head coach during the 1995-96 season.
Bechard came to Columbus in the Snakes' inaugural season of 1996-97 and would serve as captain each of his seven seasons playing in Columbus. After having his # 16 jersey retired in March of 2004, he was named Head Coach and General Manager of the Snakes.

Bechard has made the Columbus area a permanent home as he resides in Harris County with his wife of 15 years, Rhonda, and their two daughters, Alex, 12 and Kylie, 8. Jerome’s interest are golf, hockey, helping with his kids soccer teams, and helping with the Columbus Youth Hockey.
He is willing to do anything for a good cause. As you are about to witness, I have no dancing experience!
I have been touched by this disease, through my wife’s family. Her grandmother had it and it really had an impact on her whole family, just watching someone you love, be effected by them not recognizing you or having them fade in and out on you , how much that hurts you.

I think an organization like this, that can help families come together for support, tell stories of how they handle things, and of course for research so we can make this disease go away is just an incredible thing

I’m honored that you would include me on such a fundraiser, for such a cause.
