Join me in my efforts to support the Alzheimer's Association Georgia Chapter!
I was born and raised in Oklahoma City and attended medical school there. My general surgery residency was completed in Birmingham, AL and I did my plastic surgery residency in Salt Lake City, UT. My next stop was Columbus in 1983 to join Columbus Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Clinic. My wife of 18 years is Rena, and we have two great kids, Ben (16) and Kate (13).
Rena and I have been taking ballroom dancing lessons from Lee Briggs. The dancing was Rena's idea, and I have enjoyed it much more than I anticipated. The dancing has given us some needed couple time. When I am not practicing plastic surgery, I enjoy reading, sporting clays, and hunting with my son Ben.
I have been fortunate to be paired with Alee Morrison as my professional dance partner for the gala, and presently we are completing the choreography. Alee is Toni and Mark Morrison's daughter, and she instructs at Toni's Dancing School here in Columbus. We are dancing the waltz to the song "Kiss from a Rose"; it was written by the artist Seal, and featured on the "Batman Forever" soundtrack.
Alzheimer's disease is a devastating illness, and my father died from complications of Alzheimer's disease in 2006. In reality, I lost him several years earlier, as many of you know who have to deal with this illness.
My participation in this gala is in rememberance of him and to persons who suffer from this disease. I have a lot of empathy for family members who previously or presently care for loved ones with Alzheimer's disease. This gala will increase awareness of this disease, and donations will assist us with support, education, and resources.
